How the CAN Bus Attack Works
Accessing the CAN Network: Thieves typically access the CAN bus wiring by breaking or removing a headlight or bumper component.
Injecting Fake Messages: Using a digital device attached to the wiring, thieves send fake messages to the car's internal network, bypassing the immobilizer and tricking the car into acting as if the legitimate smart key is present.
Rapid Theft: The vehicle is unlocked, the engine is started, and the car is driven away within minutes.
